CONCLUSION


 Learning about information system has broadened my knowledge about technology. Information system is not about connecting people all over the world but also can used in our daily life. Technology aided the works and the tasks become more easy and achievable. Among the three topics, I like the topic on web based safety and health more because I would love to work in that area one fine day. Thus, by learning it in this subject can helps me a lot if I work in that area. But, if I do not get to work in OSH area, I will implement it in the position that I will be assigned later. Overall, I enjoy learning in the class of Dr Roya Anvari because she was very nice and kind to us. (130 words)

Blog 3 Web Based Compensation and Planning


        The topic of compensation and planning is interesting because it usually involves the process of compensation data and information. Online compensation is the web based approach of compensation tools that enable organization to gather, store, manipulate, analyse, utilise and distribute compensation data and information. Whereas, planning is a systematic approach to estimating the future needs of a company in terms of labor and supply.
            After understanding the main concept of this topic, the web based compensation is the process that using technology as a means to manage it. Usually compensation is related with the monetary and rewards, thus, managing it might be difficult and hard since everyone wanted the rewards. With using web based tools, managing the process will become easier.
            There are two components in compensation, first is the fixed compensation and second is the variable compensation. Under fixed compensation are bonuses, pay wage, merit pay and equity adjustments. Meanwhile, under the variable components are individual incentives plan, group incentives plan, profit sharing plan and productivity gain sharing programs. Online compensation may be beneficial in terms of streamlining the administration of employee’s compensation and benefits. Process to streamline the administration will become easier since the technology helps a lot. Other than that, it improves the effectiveness either by in terms of the accuracy of information or by using the technology to simplify the process. The information entered may went wrong and does not align with the real information, so using the online can fixed the information and detect where is the part that going wrong. Manager also can access to the information that they wanted and does not have to go through the third party. The record of the compensation can be referred if there has any problems that arise in the future.
            In my opinion, e-planning is the process to estimating the future needs of the organization. Every organization must have planning for the whole year in order to make sure that the journey of the organization runs smoothly. Thus, the planning should be planned thoroughly so that the plan will be execute according to the plan. Employees play important roles in executing the plan because they are the main element of the organization. Without employees, the organization may decrease in productivity due to the absence of the employees.
            Online compensation and planning is actually made the process in the organization become easier. I have learnt new things and I was satisfied because I know the new knowledge in the information system.  (414 words)

Blog 2 Web Based Occupational Safety and Health


         The day I learnt about occupational safety and health (OSH), I realize about the importance of technology in OSH. Safety and health area is a wide area, thus acquire a thorough observation from the management in the organization. Technology made the process become faster and the quantity of accidents can be decreased.
            One of the web based OSH function is as a safety and health training records for the organization. Every employee must be obliged to go training for safety and health. This is to prepare themselves and having knowledge about safety at the workplace. The record must be kept in the system established by the organization to ensure the attendance of employees to the training. Moreover, it can be reference for management to send again the employees to learn about the other OSH courses. Other than that, the training records can be used when an employee is having an accident. The record can be checked whether the employee had already known how to handle the situation that may avoid accident from happen.
            Besides that, the web based can be used as the accident reporting and record keeping. When there has accidents happen in the plant or industrial area, the employee must report the accidents to the top management. Every employee is obliged to fill the annual form regarding all the reportable work-related injuries and illnesses.  This form will be filled in every year by all the workers. The use of that form is to displays total injuries and illnesses for the year either they having injuries or not. Moreover, actions can be taken suitable with the accidents that were recorded. This is to determine the suitable treatment with the injuries having by the employees.
            The third function is for workers’ compensation claims. When employees were having accidents, of course they wanted to claim the compensation from the organization if the accident was from the workplace. So, to avoid from the employees to cheat the management, they must fill the forms of accidents. Thus, the amount of compensation is given suitable with the degree of the injuries. This is same when employees want to claim for external insurance, the records keeping can confirm the accidents because the records cannot be cheated.
            I think that the web based OSH has really helping the organization in handling the safety and health at the workplace. I was so satisfied at the end of the class because I have gain new knowledge on the web based. (412 words)

Blog 1 Web Based Employees Learning and Development


           When I learnt about learning, I must think about the concept of changing behaviour because when we learn, the result of the learning process is the change of behaviour. Learning and development can be the stage for organization to ensure the long competitiveness, excellence, quality, flexibility and adaptability.
            Training is essential for organization to increase the productivity of the organization. This is because it helps the employees to develop themselves not only will bring to the individual performance but also the organization performance. Nowadays, technology is important in human’s life. With that, the existence of Employee Learning and Development system is needed for all the employees worldwide.
            One of LED function is to foster employee motivation and satisfaction. When these two elements were fulfilled, the productivity of the organization will increase. Online learning will aided them to learn and choose the courses that they wanted. Online learning can be accessed at anywhere and anytime. The internet facilitates the divergence of the learning through the World Wide Web since it was using by worldwide. Other than that, LED function is also to help the employee manage their stress due to work overload. When employees receive training, they must have learnt on how to manage their time and tasks so that it can be completed in the time allocated. This can help employees from having stress due to the workload. Learning can also ensure the employees can keep on competitiveness and will perform in their work. After undergo training, employees will gain knowledge and improve skills in their expertise area, so they can perform their work for their organization. People nowadays will refer the training as learning because they feel that when they were sent for the training, it means that whether they were not good or they were punished. It makes them feel bad, thus, management will call it as learning instead of training.
            Besides that, LED program is a saving course because it can save the money and time to learn from it. Before this, the learning process required to send many peoples which involve lot of money, time and energy. But, with this e-learning, the cost can be reduces and the time can be shorten. The employees also will take responsibility on their own learning because it will build self-confidence of them.
            I always think that e-learning facilitates my work and schedule because all the information was gathered all in one system. Even though e-learning has disadvantages but still it has advantages in helping learners become more expert and knowledgeable.

INTRODUCTION


After a few months learning with Dr Roya Anvari, I have gained more knowledge in Information System subject. I was very thankful to my lecturer because she has taught us and be supportive to us. For this subject, my group got the task about Performance Management in Information System. The topic was familiar to me since it was one of my subjects in Human Resource Development. Whereas, for the web folio assignment, we were assigned with the topic of Web Based Learning and Development, Web Based Occupational Safety and Health and Web Based Compensation and Planning. The task given is challenging but I take it as a challenge during my student life. (112 words)

Conclusion

            I have learnt new knowledge in this class since all of these three topics are related to Human Resource. It may benefit me in the future when I will enter the workplace environment. Among the three topics, I understand more on Human Resource recruiting and staffing topic because I have learnt this before in Human Resource Management subject. Another two topics was related with Information System which is new to me. These three topics have broadened my knowledge about the importance of Information System in the management of an organization. It smoothens and facilitates the company’s flow. My hope is that I can develop all I have learnt in this class when I have entered the workplace.

Blog 3: Information and competitive advantages


            Since the first class, I only knew the meaning of Information System is the system which aids the management or the flow of the organization. But, in this class I have learnt that a strategic information system is any information system that uses IT to help an organization to gain advantage, reduce a competitive disadvantage or meet other strategic enterprise objectives.
            Nowadays, Information Technology is important because it can change the way business compete. IT plays important roles in the organization because it can substantially increase process efficiencies, improves communication among peers and facilitates collaboration.
            I also learnt about the competitive forces that exist in the business. The forces comes from the rivalry of competitors within its industry, new entrants into an industry and its markets, substitute products, bargaining power of customers, and bargaining power of suppliers. To overcome these forces, the organization needs to have strategies. Examples of the strategies are cost leadership, differentiation strategy, innovation strategy, growth strategy and alliance strategy.
            The strategy in cost leadership is always the main thing that can attract the clients, since everyone in the whole world is seeking for the lowest price of the product. If the organization offers low-cost products, but the quality is still same with other company, for sure the clients will stick with the company. This is because the company is actually helping suppliers or customers to reduce their costs of buying the products. Meanwhile, the differentiation strategy is used when the company offers differentiation in their products than the competitors. The products that was produced is hard to find at other places unless the company itself, since the clients would like to have different product than other people.
            Other than that, the company must be creative in creating the products. The company can try to create products that were unique, top services or markets. This process is called innovation strategy. Innovation on the products should be aligning with the business processes and the markets. The next strategy is the growth strategy. After operating for a few years, the company should expand company’s capacity to produce the products. This is because the demands from the clients is increasing, thus, the production should be faster and increase in the quantity. The company can expand it into global market through the internet by offering the online services. The last strategy is the alliance strategy. The company can establish linkages and alliances or the networks with the customers, suppliers and etc. this is to broaden the market and increase the opportunity in marketing and introducing the products. Blog 2: Human Resource Recruiting and Staffing



            For me, this topic was interesting because recruiting and staffing is the early process for an employee must go through to work for the organization. Recruitment is the process of having the right person, at the right time and the right place. There are many ways to recruit the candidates. If the employers want to have the qualified employees, they have to compete with other organizations. This is because other organization also uses the same instrument in order to recruit the employees.
            Nowadays, the World Wide Web is the most famous medium for people to get information from all over the world. That is why the e-recruitment was introduced, so that the process of recruitment would be simplify and won’t take a long time. Examples of e-recruitment are JobStreet.com, LinkedIn, and etc.
            Many companies like to use the e-recruitment application because it can speed up the recruitment cycle and streamline administration. Thus, the companies will have enough time to go through and choose the most capable candidates to work with them. Moreover, this system can reduce the recruitment costs and reach a wide pool of applicants. Reducing the costs but still can get many applicants would give big benefits for the companies since money was always being a barrier for every people. The World Wide Web is operating 24 hours every day, so the access to vacancies was offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to reach a global audience. Everyone can browse and fill the e-form and send it via the internet.
            Every matters have its own pros and cons. Although e-recruitment have many advantages, still it has the own weaknesses. The response received may overload since everyone in the world have Internet access. The possibility to get the unqualified candidates is high rather than the qualified candidates. When these problems arise, the company need to take time to wade through each application.
Another thing is the technology issues. Nowadays, there still have people that were not confident enough with the security of the online application. They would rather send a resume and who knows that they might be the suitable employee-to-be for the company. Thus, the company may lose the qualified person.
            Information system and technology helped a lot in the recruitment and staffing process. It simplifies the process from the beginning until the end. But, still we need to be careful with the system because it may not benefit us at all. (407 words)

Blog 1: Transnational Human Resource Systems

               When first time I heard about this topic, I cannot understand thoroughly all of the content but with the help by Dr Roya, I can slowly understand the subject. Transnational HR Model is the models that involve the organizational structure of enterprise in an organization (Dee Hock, 2010). Four basic structures or models were introduced; that organization may manifest in their global development which is multinational, global, international and transnational organizations.
            Multinational organization is one that is highly decentralized, consisting of numerous independent local business units and little control at the center. It is an independent approach since all the external activities is the assembly of independent activities. Example of this model is the company of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC).
            The next model is the globalization organization model. Global is used for worldwide and broad activities. This model is the model that highly centralized and standardized, minimizing the needs of the local business units. This approach has disadvantage, which is the management of organization does not have the power to change the system because of the centralization. It is suitable for business that uses the single type of its product and operating environment.
            The third model is the international organization model. This type of model is largely centralized by the organization, but it takes the learning and sharing approaches. Taking the local innovations and integrate it into the global business is the way of how this model operates. It involves the transfer of knowledge and information from the center of organization to other country that was the branches. In my opinion, Maybank is one of the examples of organization that uses this type of model.
            Lastly is the transnational organization model. This is the new model. It focuses on the apprenticeship outside the national borders with the view to optimizing the reaction adapted to different markets (C.A. Borlett, S. Ghoshal, 1989). The use of this model is when one regional unit has developed a solution or a product; it can easily be spread to other branches around the world. It facilitates the spread of the solution or the product establishment.
            From all the information above, I can understand more about the four types of approaches that the organizations can use. Every model has different approaches that may give benefits to different needs of organization. (384 words)

Introduction to HRIS



            My name is Hanis Sabrina binti Muhamad Rohani. I have turning to twenty one years old this year. I live in Ulu Tiram and get my formal education at the school in Johor Bahru. After finishing my school, I further my study to Johor Matriculation College. I was taking the physical science course. When I want to continue my study, I have chosen the UTM with the course of Human Resource Development as my first choice. So, here I am studying in the UTM at the faculty of FPPSM. This semester, I have to learn a subject named Human Resource Information System. The lecturer for this subject is Dr. Roya Anvari and Dr. Nur Naha. This subject is all about the information system that was used in the organization. This subject can prepare me when I was about to start my internship or entering the real work environment.
